College Au Ideas!
College AU
Caitling gave me the idea or at least inspired it. Essentially I just think it'd be cool to do a college AU where all the HOMRA guys end up meeting at a University and becoming friends there. So, here are my thoughts and ideas about it that I came up with at work and just kept smiling about:
I'd be basing this off of a western (or at least U.S. style of college schooling - mainly because that's what I'm most familiar with and that's what the rest of my ideas would work in. And since it's an AU, it can be a thing without being too random. But who knows, maybe they all just decided to study abroad. And for convenience sake, this would have to be some extremely diverse university to offer all the different majors they'd go after. And I think that it'd also be cute to call them all by their first names.
Izumo - would be a professor, probably of business or something similar. He'd also do bar tending lessons in his spare time.
Tatara - also a professor, but teaches an array of classes. Mainly things like filmography, photography, music, poetry, that kind of stuff.
Mikoto - could be a professor but I don't really know what the hell he'd teach, so instead I see him as getting into the school on a full scholarship for some sort of athletic thing. But rather than follow that, he ends up being one of those floater kinds of students who doesn't really focus on any major, just kind of randomly takes classes. He's a lot older than most cause he's been there a few years extra just kind of for the hell of it. Kind of like Pauly Shore in The Son-in-Law. Pays smart kids to do his papers for him, etc.
Is the oldest member of his fraternity left (and of course I wanna name it after HOMRA, so I was thinking HMR but the letter for R in the Greek alphabet is shaped like a P so...idk) So he's kind of like the one in charge of it now. Initially all the guys get paired up as usual for roommates, but eventually they all meet one another through classes/other friends and all join the HMR frat and live in the same building (sometime in second year.) Also, need some kind of hazing ritual that involves fire. Makes me think of how in produce, we would initiate new workers by making them eat a whole habanero pepper.
Anna - Mikoto's little sister who visits him frequently.
Yata - idk what major he'd go after. He was initially roommates with Fushimi, but he left at the end of the first year to go to a different school. Becomes roommates with Kamamoto the next year. He's the one to suggest they all join HMR.
Kamamoto - Yata's roommate at the beginning of second year. Not sure on major but I think it'd be hilarious if he was studying to become a dietitian.
Shouhei - He and Bandou still went to elementary school together, so they request to be roommates once they find out they picked the same school. Not sure what major he'd be either but probably something where he could help people, like a counselor or something similar.
Bandou - Roommates with Shouhei. His parents are paying fully for his schooling, but they are insistent that he go into the profession of their choosing or they will cut him off. Something business, medical or judicial related I think. Obviously Bandou's not interested in that, nor is he really good at it, but he doesn't want to leave college. Shouhei helps him out with his classes so he doesn't get poor marks. He really wants to do something like video game design.
Chitose - Roommates with Dewa. Not sure on major, but he'd be in a few of Izumo's classes and start to see him as a mentor.
Dewa - Roommates with Chitose. Majoring in computer sciences. Bandou's super jealous that he gets to go into that.
Eric - Roommates with Fuji, prob coming in their second year since he's younger. Not sure on major but he'd be the youngest so he's probably still deciding that himself.
Fuji - Eric is his roommate second year. Getting his degree in veterinary studies.

Only teaches guitar and vocal for music bc he sucks at brass, other strings, woodwinds, and percussion. tho he tried all of them.
by arts I mean drawing, sculpting, music, drama, language (and all that jazz)
probably a similar backstory to canon, worked way too much to pay for his own college, still works too much

Eric was a super quiet shy kid that never really had friends and was often bullied, getting into fights. His parents urged him to try for another countries university to expand his horizons and he chose one upon a whim, surprised he actually got accepted.
Getting to the country was easy and he was practically fluent in English but he still remained quiet, choosing to be by himself then to try and make friends. And snapping at anyone who tried, used to be used by his so called friends back home. Although home sick and slightly cultured shock he doesn't stay too much in contact with his parents, not feeling too close to them.
His hobbies are drawing and cooking. For school he took random courses, though he enjoyed other languages and decided to take a couple to learn in his first year. He enjoyed traveling and wanted to somehow make that something he could do as a career.

Izumo also works in a bar somewhere in the city that's close to the university, owning an apartment just a block away. Like canon, he inherited the bar from his uncle when he passed, though it was just when Izumo had been a college freshman himself. Owning the business prompted Izumo to become a business professor himself, though he does teach a few other classes, usually at random and whatever class is short in needing a professor.
He's fluent in Japanese, English, and French.

Early Education major! so like preschool/kindergarten kids are what he wants to work with. lots and lots of school for this one. either a psych minor or a math minor probably.
might techno-babble about calculus occasionally because he's taken it like a weird child (but it helps others with their math courses so!)
